Европейский сейсмологический центр EMSC сообщил, что в центральной части Италии произошло землетрясение магнитудой 6,1. По данным Геологической службы США (USGS), сила толчков составила 6,2.

Elchin Khalilov has informed about the beginning of new project GNFE under the name "Geodynamic monitoring and hazard early warning system in landslide areas:"GeoDyn".

The new project is based on use of long-term experience effective application of international systems and geodynamical monitoring for forecasting of earthquakes. The project's mission is to create an effective technology for monitoring and early warning of people about the danger of a landslide, reducing thereby the risk to potential victims and other negative consequences of landslides affecting cities and high-risk industrial facilities (main highways and railways, dams, fuel storages and warehouses for toxic substances, petrochemical plants, etc.).

Prof. Elchin Khalilov is President of the Global Network for the Forecasting of Earthquakes GNFE (UK) and Chairman of GEOCHANGE International Committee (Germany), gave the forecast of seismic activity of the world till 2026 on behalf of the above-mentioned organizations.

El Salvador Hit With 5.1 Earthquake while the Flores Sea was Shook by two 4.7s

Forty five minutes ago, a strong 5.1 magnitude earthquake hit off shore El Salvador. The quake hit approximately 40 miles or 64km SSW of Acajutla, El Salvador. The event was followed by two 4.7 magnitude quakes that shook the Flores Sea.

The quake was strong enough that @paramlowe, a resident of El Savador took to his Twitter account and wrote “it traveled from mid ES 2 mid WN at 2:28 a.m. [that I felt it] under my feet.”

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that another 4.7 temblor’s struck 133km SSE of Sinjai, Indonesia, in the Flores Sea.

Some minor shaking was reported. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

A tsunami warning was temporarily issued then withdrawn by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center for El Salvador and the neighboring countries of Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama and Mexico.

The 5.1 in Acajutla was the only quake of the day in El Salvador this week the country was hit with a 5.5 in Acajutla, Sonsonate, El Salvador.

So far this year, the 7.3 in Puerto El Triunfo, Usulutan, El Salvador was the largest recorded in the country this year.

El Salvador has had 8 quakes in the last seven days, 13 this month ad 39 seismic event this year with most of them striking in December.

In contrast, the Flores Sea has had 1 earthquake today, 1 in the past 7 days ad 1 in the entire month of December. For the year, 8 earthquakes have hit the Flores Sea.

On 12 December 1992, an earthquake measuring 7.8 in strength rocked the Flores Sea, killing 2,500 people in and around Maumere, including islands off the North coast.

Portuguese traders and missionaries came to Flores in the 16th century, mainly to Larantuka and Sikka. Their influence is still discernible in Sikka’s language, culture and religion.

In previous reports I have pointed out that Romania’s top seismologist Gheorghe Marmureanu, from Romania’s National Institute of Earth Physics, says when 39 or more quakes hit the globe within a two day period something is seriously wrong. Well, so far there has been 17,901 quakes this year and 183 since this past Sunday. That’s 183 in 2 days. And that’s just the total quakes detected in the Western Pacific.

Marureanu’s made his remarks after a series of quakes that started with two massive jolts in Indonesia measuring 8.6 and 8.2 on the Richter scale rapidly followed by three more only slightly smaller in Mexico within hours.

“There is no doubt that something is seriously wrong. There have been too many strong earthquakes,” said Marmureanu.

He added, “The quakes are a surprise that cannot be easily explained by current scientific knowledge. With the Indonesian quake for example, statistically, there should be one big earthquake in this part of Asia every 500 years. However, since 2004, there were already three quakes with a magnitude of over 8, which is not normal.”

Not normal indeed. So many things are happening that are so outside the scope of scientific understanding and expectation as a weather or earth happening. Just look at the major quakes this month alone.

The Guardian Express will continue to bring you up to date reports on the seismic and volcanic activity worldwide as soon as we obtain them.

Incidentally, as we were closing this report, a second 4.7 hit the Flores Sea, and a 4.2 temblor in struck Alaska just before that one.
